CRAFTSMAN CMCST900D1 V20 is battery powered string trimmer. It uses 0.065″ string line and has cutting swath of 13 inches.

Performance

You wouldn’t call is very powerful but it does have enough power to tackle most weeds. Works ok as an weed eater as it is performs well enough to do the job in most cases. You don’t want to use it for very thick weeds or overgrowths but for regular yard maintenance it should be enough in most cases.

CRAFTSMAN CMCST900D1 has two speed modes – low (5,500 RPM) and high (7,200 RPM). High speed mode is obviously more powerful however it also depletes the battery faster.

CRAFTSMAN CMCST900D1 also can be converted into edger but doesn’t perform well as one.

Battery

CRAFTSMAN CMCST900D1 comes with 2.0Ah and it’s terrible – on full charge it lasts only around 10 minutes which is just ridiculous. On top of that it takes 1-2 hours to charge a fully depleted one.

Other

CRAFTSMAN CMCST900D1 has telescoping pole. It also has automatic line advance system. It’s VERSATRACK Wall Organization System compatible.

This unit is very lightweight weighing just 6.3 pounds with batteries.

Conclusions

If you really want CRAFTSMAN V20 String Trimmer don’t buy CMCST900D1, get instead CMCST910M1 that is similarly priced yet uses 0.080” line, feels more powerful and comes with 4.0Ah battery.
