Weber Q2200 Liquid Propane Grill Review
Weber Q2200 is a portable liquid propane gas grill with 280 square inch cooking area. It’s equipped with porcelain-enameled, cast iron cooking grates and a single stainless steel burner with 12,000 BTU/hour input.
Grilling with Weber Q2200
Overall Weber Q2200 cooks just like you would expect from Weber – it does the job great. With that being said there are some nuances.
It does take some time to heat up albeit not too long. This does depend on multiple factors like ambient temperature however you can generally expect it to heat up to 450°F in around 6 minutes, to 500°F in about 8, 550°F in 10 and 600°F in 13 minutes.
One thing to note is that you will want to do most of the grilling with lid closed. Even though the grates are made of cast iron the housing and lid are made of aluminum and therefore doesn’t hold the heat too well. For this reason Weber Q2200 could benefit from a more powerful burner but you can work around this issue. It can sear meat very nicely but you cannot keep the lid open for too long (but keep in mind that it will cook by convection with lid closed).
Everything else is pretty nice though. The heat is distributed evenly and the single heat control knob works accurately. Weber Q2200 is equipped with electronic igniter which fires up the grill instantly and flawlessly. It’s quite efficient too and doesn’t use much propane. There’s even a built-in thermometer so you can easily track the temperatures without any additional accessories.
Propane Tank
From factory Weber Q2200 is compatible with 1 lb propane tanks however you can also use 20 lb tanks if you buy adapter.
Other Features
Weber Q2200 Liquid Propane Grill has foldable side tables as well removable drip tray.
Assembly
Weber Q2200 Liquid Propane Grill is not ready to use straight out of the box – there’s some assembly to be done (attaching and screwing in the handle, attaching thermometer, etc.). Luckily the whole process is a breeze and takes 5 minutes or less to complete.
Weight and Dimensions
Due to cast iron cooking grates Weber Q2200 is a bit on heavy side weighing at 43.51 pounds. It’s still light enough to be considered a fully portable grill albeit some consumers might have issues with carrying it longer distances.
With lid closed and tables out it measures 15.5 inches in height, 19.5 inches in depth and 51.4 inches in width.
Conclusions
Weber almost never dissappoints and this stands true with Q2200 too. There are a couple thing you could nitpick about however overall it’s an exceptional portable grill and certainly one of the best for the money too.
