CRAFTSMAN CMCST910M1 V20 String Trimmer Review

CRAFTSMAN CMCST910M1 is a 20 Volt battery powered string trimmer. Lately it has become pretty popular model with really good feedback from consumers, so is it really that great?

Performance

CRAFTSMAN CMCST910M1 uses 0.080″ string line and has a cutting swath of 13 inches. It also had two speed modes: low (5,500 RPM) and high (7,200 RPM).

So the first question most will ask is does it cut as well as a gas string trimmer and unfortunately the answer to that is no, it doesn’t. However the good news are that it’s pretty powerful – powerful enough to satisfy needs of most consumers.

Low speed mode is powerful enough for regular trimming, high speed mode is for tougher stuff like thick weeds etc. You might have to go over twice or go slower at thick stuff at times than you would weed gas string trimmer but CRAFTSMAN will do the job, it just might take a bit more time.

Features

CRAFTSMAN CMCST910M1 has push button feed system meaning you can advance line with a push of a button. However it also advances line every time you release throttle so you might end up wasting a lot of line and never actually need to manually advance it.

It’s compatible with VERSATRACK Wall Organization System.

Ergonomics

CRAFTSMAN CMCST910M1 are mediocre, they aren’t terrible but there is room for improvement.

First of all the unit is very lightweight, it weighs just 6.3 lbs with batteries (5.3 lbs without) so it’s among lightest string trimmer on sale today (there are some lighter units but not by much). However despite being lightweight it’s not that well balanced.

It has telescoping shaft that’s adjustable in height, however if you are 6 foot tall you will most likely still find it to be too short at longest setting.

Overall it’s not like it’s very uncomfortable to use this unit but comfort could certainly be improved.

Battery

CRAFTSMAN CMCST910M1 uses 20V 4.0Ah battery. It lasts about 30 minutes on low speeds setting, less on high.

Conclusions

CRAFTSMAN CMCST910M1 is a pretty good string trimmer for the price despite some of the flaws.
