TRUSTECH DSBJ-12A Portable Countertop Ice Maker Machine Review

Trustech DSBJ-12A protable ice maker is capable of making 26 pounds of ice in 24 hours – pretty average figure as most countertop ice machines in this price class has same ice output however ~1.08 lbs of ice cubes per hour isn’t small amount.

It makes a batch of 9 bullet shaped ice cubes in 6-9 minutes.

Ice quality is good but not great. They do come out a bit wet but they work for cooling drinks just fine. The first few batches might be of lower quality and take longer to make since ice maker takes some time to cool down.

It makes ice cubes of two different sizes: smaller ones are small enough to fit through bottle openings and larger ones are great for drinks. Trustech uses R600a refrigerant.

Features

Ice bucket can hold 1.5 pounds of ice cubes. Ice bucket isn’t refrigerated but is it’s insulated with cyclopentane C5H10 polystyrene foam meaning ice cubes start to slowly melt after being dropped. The water from melting goes back into water reservoir and will be re-used for making new batches. Water reservoir capacity is 71 oz.

It doesn’t have self-clean function – it’s important to note this as some sources claim it has one.

Since this is a model that came out recently it’s unknown how reliable it’s long term.

It does come with an ice scoop at least but most ice machine do.

Interface

Interface is basic – there is only 2 buttons and 4 indicator light. One of the buttons is for turning ice machine on, the other for choosing ice cube size.

Indicator lights state which ice cubes size you have chosen (each has separate indicator light), if you need to add water or if ice bucket is full.

Noise

While its making ice you can hear the fan and occasionally water flowing but it’s not loud. It does make a louder noise when ice is dropped into the basket but it lasts for a second or less.

Dimensions & Weight

TRUSTECH DSBJ-12A Countertop Ice Maker weighs 18.3 pounds and measures 10 by 14 by 13 inches – so it’s relatively compact and doesn’t use much kitchen counter space.

Conclusions
