ChefWave Bønne CW-CG01SS Conical Burr Coffee Grinder Review

ChefWave Bønne CW-CG01SS is a burr coffee grinder with 130 watt motor. It’s equipped with stainless steel burrs and features 16 grind settings.

Grinding

ChefWave Bønne CW-CG01SS works best for medium to fine type of grinds. It can’t really grind coarse so it won’t do for French press or pour over. However for drip or espresso it grinds quite good for the money however it would be nice if it could grind just a bit finer. It’s not a $500 burr grinder but the grounds come out pretty uniform.

Be aware that if ChefWave Bønne CW-CG01SS won’t grind if bean hopper isn’t inserted correctly. To insert it you have to line up side plastic indents with the holes on the grinder and then twist the knob 90 degrees clockwise to lock it.

Noise

ChefWave Bønne CW-CG01SS grinds pretty loud. That will be the case for nearly all burr grinders though.

Controls

Controls are pretty simple. You basically get two dials – one for grind coarseness (1 to 16) and other one for grinding time (10 to 50 seconds with 1 cup worth of grounds taking around 5 seconds to grind).

ChefWave Bønne CW-CG01SS comes with 2 portafilter holders (small and large) so you can grind directly into portafilter. Grinder also comes with wooden brush and coffee scoop.

Conclusions

ChefWave Bønne CW-CG01SS is a decent grinder for medium to fine grinds. It doesn’t however grind coarse enough for French press. This is a pretty inexpensive burr grinder so obviously it isn’t the best but for the money grinding performance is good.
