WORX WG184 40V 13″ Cordless String Trimmer Review

WORX WG184 is cordless string trimmer with cutting swath of 13 inches. It uses 0.080” line and does 7,500 RPM at no load.

It’s pretty powerful, in fact it feels just as powerful as most gas powered string trimmers. It cuts great through thick grass and weeds and can handle nearly everything you throw at it.

WORX WG184 can be turned into wheeled edger in seconds. Wheel can be attached to the head to edge and it attaches on the shaft when you’re not using it. It works very well as an edger too!

Ergonomics

Overall ergonomics of WORX WG184 are decent but not great – Some will find it very comfortable to use and others not.

WORX WG184 is longer than other string trimmers making it a lot more comfortable to use for taller people as you don’t have to hunch as much (however it makes it less comfortable for shorter persons as shaft is not adjustable in length).

The angle of the handle is adjustable horizontally and vertically and you can also adjust the length of handle itself too.

WORX WG184 is a bit heavy compared to other cordless string trimmer. It weighs 8.6 lbs – meaning muscle fatigue sets in much faster. If you are looking for a cordless string trimmer specifically because they are lighter than gas ones, then this one probably isn’t made for you as it weighs just as much as gas powered ones.

Features

WORX WG184 weed wacker has command feed spool system – just push a button to automatically feed line. It also has variable speed control.

WORX WG184 40V Power Share 13″ string trimmer has D-grip handle that’s adjustable in angle and length. Head pivots too – just put your foot on it and adjust the angle.

Guard is big (significantly bigger than most other weed wackers) and does a great job of protecting you, however because of it’s size it does obstruct view a bit.

Battery

WORX WG184 weed wacker uses two 20V 2.0 Ah simultaneously. They usually last 20 to 30 minutes on single charge and take 1-2 hours to charge – but keep in mind that if you want to charge right after using them you will have to wait around 15 minutes for them to cool off.

One cool features is that you can check how much battery life there’s left. Each battery displays charge left in 3 bars as well you can check combined charge left that’s displayed with 5 bars.

Noise

WORX WG184 could be described as pretty loud. It’s not as loud as gas trimmers but it’s louder than most electric ones.
