Vospeed SM-1550 is a stand mixer with 660 watt motor and 8.5-quart mixing bowl. Is it a good first stand mixer and can it be a good alternative to a KitchenAid one?
Vospeed SM-1550 works reasonably well. The motor is quite powerful and does a good (but not great) job of mixing batters and doughs. The small flaw it has is that attachments doesn’t cover the whole bowl like they do on KitchenAid so you will have to scrape sides and bottom more often. This makes it less convenient to use and will take longer to do the job but considering it’s a lot more affordable than KitchenAid stand mixers you can’t really complain.
Another thing to mention is that Vospeed SM-1550 stand mixer is a bit loud especially on higher speeds (it has total of 6 + “Pulse” mode).
Overall quality isn’t bad but neither is it great. Vospeed SM-1550 stand mixer is mostly made of plastic which is less sturdy than metal which is what KitchenAid stand mixers are made of.
Vospeed 8.5QT stand mixer comes with whisk, beater and dough hook attachments. Beater and dough hook have Teflon coating making them easy to clean. Attachments are dishwasher safe.
The 8.5 quart mixing bowl is made of stainless steel and has two handles making it easy to hold/carry.
Another vital accessory it comes with is plastic splash guard which will reduce the mess you make.
Vospeed SM-1550 is not a bad stand mixer but if you have owned KitchenAid in the past you will likely be disappointed. On the other hand if this will be your first stand mixer you will probably like it a lot. Vospeed SM-1550 can’t really be compared to something like KitchenAid KSM7581 Professional 7-Quart stand mixer as they are in completely different leagues and price categories.
