Troy Bilt Squall 2100 (31AS2T5F766) 208cc Snow Blower Review

Troy Bilt Squall 2100 31AS2T5F766 is a gas powered single-stage snow blower. At first look you don’t really know what to expect of it. First of all consumer feedback is really mixed – most seem to love it but there is still a lot of those who despite it. Second of all it’s just a single stage however it has a 208cc 4-cycle overhead valve engine that you can find in larger 2-stage units. So how well does it perform? Lets find that out!

Performance

Troy Bilt Squall 2100 performs great for a single stage snow blower. Handles 9”-10” of mostly wet, heavy snow relatively easy. It can handle more too, but you might have to go a bit slower or do a second pass.

If you get 6 to 10 inches regularly with occasional snow storm that delivers more than 10+ inches Troy Bilt Squall 2100 might be good enough. If you do get 10+ inches of snow on regular basic then maybe you should look for a more serious unit.

Features

It has electronic starter but you probably won’t use it because pull starting is so easy – it usually takes just 1-2 pulls and you don’t have to use a lot of force like with other appliances.

It has polymer chute with 2-way remote chute control that rotates in 190 degrees.

It does requite a bit of assembling but it’s very simple and easy to do.

Ergonomics

It’s smaller and lighter than two-stage or three-stage snow blowers making it also easier to maneuver -turning is very easy. It’s not self-propelled snow blower however it does pull itself nicely when it contacts surface because of the power it has.

Troy Bilt Squall 2100 also has comfort ergonomic grip, foldable gull-wing handle and drift cutters.

Reliability

Relatively many consumers have complained about reliability of this snow blower. Not everyone, but many consumers have experienced different parts of it breaking so it’s questionable how long it will last.

Conclusions

Despite the mixed feedback from consumers Troy Bilt Squall 2100 31AS2T5F766 actually seems to be a pretty nice snow blower at first glance if you are dealing with light-to-medium amounts of snow, however it might not be well built considering consumer complaints about reliability. That doesn’t mean it won’t last, but it’s hard to predict if and what kind of issues you might run into.
