Suncast SSW1200 is a small deck box with 22 gallon capacity that can also be used as a bench but is it sturdy enough?

Quality

Suncast SSW1200 is made of poly resin which is basically plastic. Despite that once assembled deck box is quite sturdy, sturdy in fact for an average sized person to sit on it. So overall quality is good, only complaint is that hinges are plastic – that’s the only part of deck box that’s questionable how long it will last.

Weatherproofness

Suncast SSW1200 deck box is very water resistant. It’s highly unlikely any water will get inside even during heavy rainfall.

Features

Other than being designed to be used as a bench Suncast SSW1200 doesn’t really have any other features. There are no handles, wheels or hydraulic hinges that keep lid open. It also cannot be locked with a padlock or hasp.

Assembly

Suncast SSW1200 22 gallon deck box is super simple to assemble. Instructions are detailed but whole assembly is pretty much straight forward. You just snap pieces together – no tools required. It’s as simple as it gets, takes about 2 minutes to put it together. Just follow the sequence of instructions – start with connecting bottom panel with back panel, then add front panel before adding side pieces.

Conclusions

Suncast SSW1200 doesn’t offers lots of storage space. It’s relatively small for a deck box but not everyone needs something with 100+ gallon storage capacity. It’s a great deck box for what it’s – pretty sturdy, attractive and practical as it can be used as a bench.
