STDY rooftop cargo bag provides you with extra 20 cubic feet of storage space which is 5 cubic feet than majority of cargo bags. Does it outperform other cargo bags in other areas as well?
STDY rooftop cargo bag is made of densely pressed 1200-denier polyester. If feels reasonably well made and sturdy but first impressions can be deceiving.
It’s actually not uncommon for the bag to start tearing up or seams to rip after few hundred of thousand miles of use. STDY rooftop cargo bag carrier might suffice if you have to use it once or couple times but it’s likely not something that will survive years to come of regular use.
STDY claims their cargo bag is 100% waterproof thanks to the material it’s made of, dual seam technology and Velcro covers over the zippers. Well it’s not. During rain water often manages to penetrate bag in varying degrees – sometimes it’s just slightly damp, other times it’s completely wet. Water doesn’t always get in but it does often enough that you can’t really call this bag waterproof if any way.
It’s pretty simple to install and works whether you have or don’t roofrack. It stays reasonably secure but you might have to retighten straps occasionally when you take breaks from driving.
You always should face the side with no zipper towards the front of your car. When you start loading your items start with the heaviest ones and try to place them in the middle inside the bag. You should try to load it in a way it achieves as equal weight distribution as possible.
Noise and MPG
Because it’s larger than most cargo bags it does cause more noise and decrease MPG more than other bags.
STDY rooftop cargo bag measures 52 inches long, 39.5 inches wide and 17.5 inches high.
STDY rooftop cargo bag does provide you with crazy amount of storage space but it’s not that sturdy or water resistant.
