Silonn Countertop Ice Maker Review
Silonn SLIM01B is a countertop ice maker that can produce 26 pounds of bullet shaped ice cubes in 24 hours (1.08 pounds per hour). It’s equipped with R600a refrigerant and produces a batch of 9 ice cubes every 6 to 13 minutes (varies depending on selected ice size as well water and room temperatures).
Ice Production
Ice quality is excellent and they taste pure. The bullet shaped ice cubes are fairly thick so they don’t melt fast unlike ice made with some of the other ice makers. Silonn SLIM01B works well and constantly generates a never ending supply of ice (as long as the water tray is not empty).
Another nice thing about Silonn countertop ice maker is that it can produce bullet shaped ice cubes in two different sizes: small and large.
There are a couple things you might dislike about this unit (and others too as anything in this price category will have similar flaws).
- The ice cubes come out wet. What this means is that if you place them in the bag and put it in a freezer they will likely freeze into large clump of ice which you will have to break apart with an icepick afterwards.
- The ice basket is not a freezer meaning that already made ice cubes will slowly melt over time.
- When a batch of ice cubes are ready they are dropped into the ice basket – this makes a bit of noise.
Control Panel
Control panel of Silonn countertop ice maker features 2 buttons: “On/Off|Clean” (Press to turn the unit on/off or hold for 5 seconds to activate self-cleaning process) and “Select” (use to select ice cube size), as well 5 indicator lights: “Add Water” (indicates that water tray is empty), “Ice Full” (indicates that ice basket is full), “Power”, “S” (indicates that you have selected small ice cube size) and “L” (indicates that you have selected large ice cube size).
Water Tray and Ice Basket
The capacity of water reservoir is 2 liters (0.53) gallons. The capacity of ice basket is 1.32 pounds (0.6 kilograms). As mentioned previously ice basket is not a freezer so ice cubes left there will slowly melt over time.
If water tray is empty or ice basket is full Silonn SLIM01B will stop making ice and will inform you about it with its indicator lights.

Before First Use
Before using Silonn countertop ice maker you have to let it sit upright for 24 hours so let the refrigerant settle in.
After that the first time you use it make sure you discard first 4 batches of ice (or more) to wash out any manufacturing byproducts from the system as otherwise they might initially affect the flavor of ice cubes.
