SHARDOR CG845B Conical Burr Coffee Grinder Review
SHARDOR CG845B is a burr coffee grinder with stainless steel conical burrs. It has 14 different grind settings and can grind from 2 to 12 cups worth of beans at a time.
Grinding
Grinds are fairly even and consistent compared to other burr grinders in this price class. Grind speed is also comparatively pretty fast. Works reasonably well for brewing methods that requite coarse to medium-fine grind size. For something like Espresso that requires fine grind this will not do a great job.
It’s a bit noisy but all burr grinders are. It’s not louder than others and is even quieter than some.
Bean hopper capacity is 8.8 oz (it does seem to actually hold a bit less, just under 8 oz) whereas grounds bin can hold 3.35 oz of grounds coffee.
Grounds bin
Grounds bin is made of plastic so there’s some static. It doesn’t however cause as much mess as other SHARDOR burr grinders we have written about before.
Controls
Grind fineness is selected by rotating bean hopper (the lower the number the finer the grind) whereas under it you will find dial for selecting amount of cups to be grinded which also works as a button to start grinding.
Features
Upper conical burr is removable making it easy to clean (especially with the included brush).
Conclusions
SHARDOR CG845B is one of the better inexpensive burr grinders you can buy. It’s also a significantly better than other models from the manufacturer. SHARDOR CG845B works a lot better than blade grinder however the flavor difference compared to using a burr grinder 2-3 times more expensive is quite significant. This post from the gallery regarding my experiences with the Shardor Conical Burr CG845B series grinder. Soon after purchase did begin to experience problems with gumming of burr with flavored beans which then required disassembly and cleaning with seemingly almost every brew. I contacted manufacturer who agreed to replace unit IF I would remove negative comment posted. When I refused all communications were ended. The unit was relatively new that I still had original box, packing materials to include wire tie for 110 wall plug. Unit was stored, I hardly ever throw things away until today and decided to see if it would re-grind to a finer state pre-ground a mass produced well known brand (to put a little more zip into the flavor.) I adjusted the unit to its most fine setting, and it would re-grind, but would kick off (probably a thermal overload) almost every scoop before finishing(this was non-flavored, no oil of any sort type ground coffee that machine failed to process without malfunctioning. YMMV.
