SHARDOR CG835B Electric Burr Coffee Grinder 2.0 Review

SHARDOR CG835B 2.0 is one of the most popular electric coffee burr grinders while being relatively inexpensive for one. As you might have heard even a cheap burr grinder is significantly better than any blade grinder when it comes grind consistency and repeatability, however is SHARDOR CG835B worth to buy?

Grinding

SHARDOR CG835B features 16 grind setting for coarse to fine with ability to grind 2 to 14 cups worth of ground coffee at a time. Bean hopper has a capacity of 240 grams (8.82 oz) whereas grounds bin has capacity of 95 grams (3.35 oz).

Grind is not as consistent as you get from high-end burr grinders but it’s decent considering this is a budget priced burr grinder. If you can complain about something it’s that it doesn’t grind quite fine enough on finest setting for espresso which can be issue if you use non pressurized portafilter, but for other types of coffee that doesn’t require extra fine grind SHARDOR CG835B is decent.

Static cling

As with most burr grinders static cling is a thing with SHARDOR CG835B too, especially since it has plastic grounds bin.

What’s static cling? Basically due to how burrs work beans pick up electricity during grinding process which makes some of the ground coffee to stick to the bin. A tap or two should be enough to detach most of the grounded coffee but not all of it. There are other solutions too like adding a drop or two of water to your beans before grinding to prevent accumulation of static electricity.

Controls

SHARDOR CG835B has two dials – one for selecting grind setting and other for amount of cups to be grinded that also works as a button to start grinding. Simple and intuitive.

Features

Upper burr is removable for easier cleaning which is nice as you will likely have to clean it on somewhat common basis. SHARDOR CG835B also comes with 2 in 1 spoon that’s brush and a spoon at the same time.

Size

SHARDOR CG835B burr grinder is pretty compact. It measures 5 inches wide, 7 inches deep and 9.5 inches high.

Conclusions

SHARDOR CG835B is a decent entry-level electric coffee burr grinder. Overall it’s a mediocre grinder that isn’t a proper replacement for $150+ models but it is light years better than any blade grinder so might do for those who are looking for inexpensive grinder.
