Secura SCG-903B Electric Burr Coffee Grinder Mill Review

Secura SCG-903B is an inexpensive electric burr coffee grinder mill with 17 grind settings. Price tag alone makes it obvious this won’t be the best burr grinder in the world, however is it a good entry level model?

Grinding

Secura SCG-903B grinds quite fine even on coarsest setting, way too fine for French press, cold brew or drip. It’s best for espresso which ironically enough cheap burr grinders usually are useless for. Grind consistency isn’t perfect but it’s good for inexpensive burr grinder.

It’s a bit noisy but all burr grinders are. Hopper capacity is 100 grams of coffee beans.

Quality

Overall quality is mediocre. It’s not terrible but you can’t expect an inexpensive unit to feel as solid as high-end models. Grounds container is made of thin plastic and can be broken if you tightly squeeze it with your hand. It’s not really an issue as no one will try to squeeze hard enough to actually break it but it shows that materials are cheap.

Controls

Secura SCG-903B burr grinder features 2 dials – one for adjusting grind size and the other for cups to be grinded (2 to 12). Once you have selected your desired setting press “On’ button to start grinding.

Other

Secura SCG-903B makes a bit of a mess when you remove grounds container. Expect some grounds coffee to spill out on your countertop.

Conclusions

If you are looking for inexpensive burr grinder that can grind fine then Secura SCG-903B is worth consideration. It does have some flaws but any inexpensive model will. There aren’t many inexpensive burr grinders who are decent for fine grinds so there aren’t many alternatives for money however SCG-903B is useless for coarse or medium grinds.
