Secura CBG-018 is a budget priced burr coffee grinder with 100 watt power. It’s in fact on of the least expensive burr grinders you can currently buy – so is it any good?
Secura CBG-018 doesn’t grind as well as more expensive burr grinders, that’s something you have to understand, however considering its costs as much as some blade grinders the grinding performance is pretty impressive in a way.
Secura CBG-018 offers a decent range of grind coarseness as well grinds surprisingly uniformly. Again, it’s not up to par to more expensive burr grinders, but it’s certainly an upgrade from blade grinder. You will still want a more advanced burr grinder to get the perfect flavor of your coffee, but choosing between a blade grinder or Secura CBG-018 the latter one seems an obvious winner, for the most part at least.
There are some issue with Secura CBG-018. One of them is static cling – a common flaw for inexpensive burr grinders. During grinding process grounds coffee gets charged with static electricity which makes them to stick to the grounds container. You won’t be able to get all of the grounds coffee out of the container right after grinding. Static cling will also often cause some of the grounds to spurt out once you remove the container making a mess.
Another issue that some experience is Secura CBG-018 failing to feed beans from the hopper into the grounds container unless to tap or shake the grinder. This issue is more pronounced with darker roast beans and is not something every consumer experiences.

Secura CBG-018 is an inexpensive burr grinder and it feels that way. Materials are cheap and it doesn’t feel particularly sturdy. This will be the case with all burr grinders in this price class but just because it feels cheap doesn’t mean it won’t last.
Grind coarseness can be adjusted by rotating bean hopper whereas amount to be grinded (1 to 10 cups) can be selected with a dial located on the right side. Once you have selected your desired setting On/Off buttons (located on the front between bean hopper and grounds container)
Bean hopper and grounds container
Bean hopper capacity is 8 oz (262 grams) whereas grounds container 5 oz (140 grams).
Burr can be easily removed for cleaning and Secura CBG-018 comes with brush for this purpose.
Secura CBG-018 is not a great burr grinder however it does grind pretty well for the money. It does have some flaws though so whether you should buy it is still arguable and if you are looking for a near perfect coffee flavor then this is not an alternative for a more expensive model.
