Ryobi P546 10″ ONE+ 18-Volt Lithium+ Cordless Chainsaw Review

Ryobi P546 is a small battery powered chainsaw with 10-inch guide bar and chain. So what is a small 18-Volt chainsaw capable of?

Cutting performance

Ryobi P546 cuts rather slow because of slow chain speed. It does seem to have reasonable power as it doesn’t bog down when you push it into tree.

Considering the cutting speed and the size of chainsaw itself it’s pretty obvious this is only for light duty jobs. It cuts through trees or logs for that are up to 5-7 inches in diameter just fine both soft and hard woods. Since Ryobi P546 is small and light it can be useful for camping and cutting wood for camp fire or other instances.

Features

Ryobi P546 is pretty featureless. It doesn’t have some features you will find on nearly all modern chainsaws like chain brake or automatic oiler – instead it has manual push button oiler. Oil tank will more than likely leak so you should empty it after you have finished cutting.

Ease of use

Ergonomics might not be the best but because of small size and weight (Ryobi P546 weighs just 6.5 lbs) it’s for the most part easy to use and handle.

Batteries

Ryobi P546 is compatible with all Ryobi 18V batteries which range from 1.5Ah to 9.0Ah. Battery life heavily depends on what you cut, how you cute and obviously what kind of batteries you use.

Conclusions

Ryobi P546 chainsaw lacks features and doesn’t cut fast, however it can be useful for situations when you need something that’s is portable (light and small) and sufficient for light duty jobs.
