Royal Gourmet CC1830SC Charcoal Grill Review

Royal Gourmet CC1830SC is a charcoal grill with a total cooking area of 811 square inches including 443 square inches of main cooking area (porcelain-enameled steel wire cooking grates), 184 square inches of warming rack (chrome-plated) and 184 square inches of offset smoker.

Grilling with Royal Gourmet CC1830SC Charcoal Grill

Royal Gourmet CC1830SC cooks reasonably well. You can certainly have delicious results but it’s not as effective as higher-end models. It does have adjustable air vents and charcoal pan is adjustable in height (there are 2 different levels) but the control you have over air flow and temperature is a bit limited.

For simple grilling or beginners Royal Gourmet CC1830SC works well enough but more experienced grillers might be left with wanting more.

Quality

How can Royal Gourmet CC1830SC offer so much at such affordable pricing? Quality or to be more precise lack thereof.

Royal Gourmet CC1830SC is cheaply made. The metal is very thin, paint peels, you get the idea. This doesn’t feel like something that will last for many years.

A common issue seems to be bad quality control too. Some consumers report parts not fitting properly, bad welding and so on.

Features

Royal Gourmet CC1830SC charcoal grill is equipped with side table with hooks, two wheels for mobility, lid-mounted thermometer gauge and bottom shelf that can hold up to 20 pounds of items (if the weight is distributed evenly). It also comes with rain cover.

Verdict

Royal Gourmet CC1830SC charcoal grill gives you a lot for the money but good quality is not included. If you need inexpensive grill with all the features Royal Gourmet has then it might be worth the money but you have to have realistic expecations. This is unlikely a grill that will last for many years to come. If you wan’t something exceptional like Kamado Joe Big Joe III then you will have to spend significantly more money. If you don’t need all the fancy features like warming rack and offset smoker then buy a simpler and smaller Weber charcoal grill that’s not much more expensive yet will last potentially for decades. Char-Griller E16620 Akorn is also a decent kamado charcoal grill. The decision is yours to make!
