Rightline Gear Sport Jr. Is a budget priced car rooftop cargo bag. It has storage capacity of 9 cubic feet – quite a bit less than industry’s average of 15 cu. ft. but it’s still roomy and able to carry loads of stuff.

Quality

Cargo bag feels surprisingly well made. It’s not top of the shelf product obviously and can’t compete with quality of cargo bags that are 3-4 times the price, but considering how cheap this one is it’s surprising it’s not a pile of useless trash.

It features dual seam technology (sewn for strength and welded for waterproofness). Zippers are urethane coated and hidden under protective zipper flap to prevent water getting inside the bag.

It does seem to be very waterproof. It’s unlikely any water will penetrate the bag during rain.

Rightline Gear Sport Jr. cargo bag doesn’t come with anti-slip mat or have one built-in. It’s highly recommended you buy one since it helps bag stay put and will protect your cars rooftop from scratches which the bag can cause sometimes.

Installation

Rightline Gear Sport Jr. cargo bag can be installed with or without roof rack. If you have roof rack you attach straps to it, if you don’t then you use car clips to attach straps to door frame under weather molding. Installation is simple and easy.

Noise and MPG

Cargo bag does cause additional road noise but how much of it you will hear depends heavily on sound insulation of your car. It will also decrease MPG – usually by few miles.

Rightline Gear 100S51 Sport Jr. measures 36 inches long, 30 inches wide and ~16 inches high.

Conclusions

It’s not among best cargo bags on the market but it’s surprisingly good for the money.
