Prime Home R-134A Portable Countertop Ice Machine Review
Prime Home R-134A ice machine can make up to 26 lbs of ice cubes in 24 hours.
It makes a batch of 9 bullet shaped ice cubes every 8-10 minutes. First couple batches might take longer to make (like 10-12 minutes) and taste a bit plastic but following batches taste great.
Ice cube quality is decent but not great. They come out a bit wet and aren’t crystal clear, instead they are cloudy white. They are crunchy though and taste good especially if you use distilled water (as previously mentioned first couple batches might taste worse).
It can make ice cubes in two different sizes: small and large.
Interface
Interface is easy to use. It features only 2 buttons and 5 indicator lights. One of the button turns ice maker on/off and the other one is for choosing ice cube size. Indicator lights are for:
- Warning that more waters needs to be added
- Ice basket is full
- Ice maker is turned on
- Small ice cube size is selected
- Large ice cube size is selected
Features
Prime Home R-134A has water reservoir with capacity of 2.2 liters (~74 oz). Ice bucket can hold up to 1.5 lbs of ice cubes. It’s not refrigerated but it’s insulated – so ice cubes will melt slowly melt inside it. All of the melted water will go back into water reservoir to be re-used for making following batches of ice cubes.

It might look like Prime Home R-134A has stainless steel housing but that’s not the case. It’s actually made of plastic that’s colored to look like stainless steel
Conclusions
Prime Home R-134A is a pretty good budget priced countertop ice maker. It’s not perfect though – as it’s often the case with budget priced appliances but it’s worth the price.
