PowerSmart PS76110A 20 Volt (18V) String Trimmer/Edger Review
PowerSmart PS76110A is a 20 volt (according to retail description, actual battery used is 18 Volt) string trimmer that double down as an edger. It does 8,200 RPM at no load and uses 0.065” line. It has cutting swath of just 10 inches – significantly less than most string trimmers.
For the price it’s reasonably powerful but you have to keep in mind that it’s a budget priced string trimmer – it’s not made for heavy duty jobs.
For simply trimming grass and weeds that aren’t too thick in your yard it works well enough, however due to extremely small cutting swath trimming does take longer than usual.
PowerSmart PS76110A can be converted into edger in seconds but edger wheels are too small. The line also doesn’t work properly when edging so this feature is pretty much useless.
Battery
PowerSmart PS76110A uses 18V battery (despite listings saying it has 20V). It lasts around 30 minutes on full charge.
Ergonomics
Is a bit short – if you are tall you might have to hunch which i uncomfortable and might cause discomfort and back pain. At 7.5 pounds it’s farm from being the lightest string trimmer out there but compared to gas powered ones neither is it super heavy. It does have adjustable handle though.
PowerSmart PS76110A measures 35.4 inches long, 7.87 inches wide and 5.9 inches high.
Flaws
Instructions it comes with are trash making assembly very difficult task.
Consumers often experience problems with automatic feed spool system. Replacing string is also unnecessary difficult and many consumers have a really tough time doing it.
Overall quality of the PowerSmart PS76110A string trimmer doesn’t feel great either which is as expected considering the pricing. It’s questionable how long it will last – but it doesn’t mean it won’t.

Conclusions
PowerSmart PS76110A is a very cheap and for a reason – it does have a lot of flaws. Despite that according to consumer reports there is still reasonably many people who are satisfied by it. So perhaps for some that want to save as much money as possible and have little expectations it might be good enough – but personally I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.

I bought this piece of trash and have regretted it since the first time I tried to use it. The design of the spool seems to serve no other purpose than to be difficult to use. It could have been as simple as countless others. The spool flew off 4 times in less than 30 minutes and I couldn’t even find it after the 4th time. The trimmer has never worked again because not even Powersmart sell replacement parts for it. The makers should have been sued for lying about the power! At the end it was an inexpensive trimmer that still over priced!
I bought this weed eater and only used it 3 times… then it quit working! Just shut off minutes after starting to use it, so I charged the battery…. still does nothing! There seems to be no troubleshooting site for this product to fix it. Does anyone know of a troubleshooting site or how to repair it? It still looks brand new.
