Power Air Fryer XL Review (5.3-Quart | AF-530)

Power Air Fryer XL AF-530 has 5.3 quart capacity and cooks in temperatures ranging from 180°F to 400°F.

Cooking

Power Air Fryer XL AF-530 cooks food well but not any better than other air fryers. You might have to spray some foods with a little bit of oil to get good crispiness. Some also might need to be flipped halfway through cooking process to get evenly cooked on both sides.

Controls are fairly simply and intuitive. You get display with 6 touch sensitive buttons. Two of the buttons are for temperature adjustment, another two for time adjustment, then there’s power button for turning air fryer on/off as well to start cooking and the last button is to cycle between different presets.

Time is adjusted in 1 minute increments from 1 to 59 minutes, temperature is adjusted in 10°F increments. This means you will be off by 5°F using some recipes (i.e. recipe says 375°F but you can only do 370°F or 380°F). This is often the case for other air fryers too but some do allow you to adjust temperature in 5 degree increments.

Power Air Fryer XL AF-530 does have 7 presets: French fries, roast, shrimp, bake, chicken, steak and fish.

When you turn on Power Air Fryer XL AF-530 it will automatically go to its default setting (370°F and 15 minutes) and from there you can make adjustments or select a preset.

Quality

Power Air Fryer XL AF-530 is a pretty inexpensive air fryer and it does kinda feel that way. It doesn’t feel super sturdy or anything. Consumer reports seem to confirm this as well as there are various of different complaints after long term of use.

The most important question perhaps is how long this air fryer lasts. You really can’t give a good answer as it varies from unit to unit and this is true to any electric appliance. What you can do is see if there are more complaints about reliability than usual and in this case there are. Numerous consumers reported their units lasting around a year, in some cases mere months. This doesn’t mean this is the case for most units but it might indicate a failure rate is high than usual.

There are other complaints about quality too. Some have reported handles breaking off, other that nonstick coating started to peel of after few months of use.

Other

Cooking basket can be a bit difficult to take out and insert back in (mostly the latter).

Conclusions

Power Air Fryer XL cooks reasonably well and it’s not expensive however considering some of its flaws combined with some of the complaints from consumers (even though most feedback is positive) it’s hard to recommend it.
