Oregon CS1400 Corded Electric Chainsaw Review
Oregon CS1400 is a cord powered electric chainsaw with 15-amp motor and 16-inch reduced-kickback Oregon guide bar and Oregon chain.
Cutting performance
Cutting performance (speed) is very similar to Oregon CS1500 which has 18-inch bar and self-sharpening feature.
Oregon CS1400 doesn’t have the power of gas chainsaw but it does cut very well. It’s perfect for light duty jobs like cutting logs of 5 inch diameter. It can handle more serious jobs too and cuts up to 14-inch diameter logs quite well as well. It’s one of the more capable corded chainsaws.
Just like with CS1500 you also shouldn’t force CS1400 into wood, just let it do its job.
Features
Oregon CS1400 has all the features you would expect from modern chainsaw like auto-oiling, chain brake and chain tensioner.
Cord
Since Oregon CS1400 is cord powered chainsaw you need appropriate cord to power it. Cord that is up to 50 feet long should have gauge/AWG rating of 14, whereas cord that’s up to 100 feet long should have AWG/gauge rating of 12. You shouldn’t use cord that’s more than 100 feet long.

Assembly
Oregon CS1400 is shipped dissembled i.e. you will have to attach bar and chain yourself. It’s an easy process that shouldn’t take more than 10 minutes albeit the slightly confusing instructions.
Conclusions
Oregon CS1400 is one of the best corded chainsaws on sale today, however Oregon CS1500 – slightly more advanced chainsaw is only slightly more expensive. Granted, some prefer smaller units or don’t need the larger guide bar/chain and cutting speed between them is very similar but since price difference between these two units is small you could/should consider the more expensive one.
