NUWAVE Mosaic Induction Wok Review
NUWAVE Mosaic is induction wok which makes it a bit different than other electric woks. With 14-inch diameter wok which has 5-quart capacity NUWAVE Mosaic is large enough to cook most family-sized meals.
Cooking with NUWAVE Mosaic Induction Wok
NUWAVE Mosaic induction wok heats up fast and is easy to season. In has adjustable temperature from 100°F to 575°F. Most other electric woks top out at around 400°F so NUWAVE Mosaic is superior in certain situations like when you want to sear meat.
The heat is concetrated in the center/bottom which makes it feel more like a real wok (unless we talk about commercial wok stations) than other electric models however many consumers might dislike this and prefer the experience of cooking surface to have heat evenly distributed like it’s the case with Breville BEW600XL.
Because the center of the wok is hotter with the sides being colder the further you go there are some nuances when it comes to cooking with NUWAVE Mosaic that some consumers might dislike. For example cooking large amount of food takes longer because most of the heat is in the very center. For this same reason it also takes a while to bring larger amount of liquid to boil.
The closest competitor to NUWAVE Mosaic Induction Wok is Breville BEW600XL electric wok. Neither is inherently better or worse than the other. They are just different with their own strengths and weaknesses. Which will suit you best? By now you should have understand that yourself as I already mentioned how the cooking experience differs between the two.
Adjustable wattage
NUWAVE Mosaic induction wok has adjustable wattage which can be useful in situations where you might have limited power supply like in an RV, camper trailer or a truck.
There are 3 wattage options: 600, 900 and 1500 watts. The lower the wattage the longer it takes to cook which is the main difference you notice between them. Other than that NUWAVE Mosaic performs well in lower wattage modes.
Control panel
The base is equipped with digital LED display screen, two knobs and 4 buttons: “preheat”, “stage”, “watts” and “On/Off”.
One of the knobs is for adjusting temperature whereas the other for cooking time (you can set it from 1 minute to 9 hours and 59 minutes).
If you want to switch from Fahrneheit to Celcius or vice versa hold “Stage” and “Watts” buttons at the same time until you see “F” or “C” flashing, then you can press “Stage” button to switch between Fahrenheit and Celcius and once you have selected your desired temperature scale just press “On/Off” buttons to complete.
With “Stage” button you can program up to 10 cooking stages. For example you can make NUWAVE Mosaic to cook at 375°F for 10 minutes (first stage), then 425°F for 2 minutes (second stage) and then 550°F for 3 minutes (third stage).
