NUWAVE BRAVO XL 30-Quart Convection Oven Review

NUWAVE BRAVO XL is countertop convection oven with 30 quart (1 cubic foot) interior capacity. It has 1800 watt power supply and has adjustable temperature range of 50°F to 500°F (most have maximum temperature of 400°F of 450°F).

Cooking with NUWAVE BRAVO XL

NUWAVE BRAVO XL is equipped with 5 quartz heating elements – 3 at top and 2 at bottom. It cooks evenly and heats up faster than regular oven.

The results are pretty great. Chicken wings on air fry setting have crispy skin on outside and are juicy on inside. Toast function works fairly well too (which is not always the case with countertop ovens) – the bread comes out golden crispy.

Similar things can be said about many other foods including french fries, tater tors, grilled cheese, chicken, turkey, steak, bacon, fish, roasted veggies and more – you get the idea. NUWAVE BRAVO XL cooks well and the good tastes great.

There are 12 cooking modes: air fry, bake, broil, dehydrate, frozen, grill, pizza, reheat, roast, slow roast, toast and yogurt. It also comes with temperature probe which is something most countertop ovens don’t have. Temperature probe is essential if you want to cook meat to perfection just the way you like it.

With 30 quart interior space NUWAVE BRAVO XL is noticeably more spacious (and also larger) than most countertop ovens. This can be a negative if you want something that’s compact however the upside is that you can cook larger meals and fit larger foods (i.e. larger chicken or pizza).

Noise

NUWAVE BRAVO XL is not as loud as some of the other countertop ovens from other brands which might be important to some.

Accessories

NUWAVE BRAVO XL convection oven comes with temperature probe, crumb tray, enamel baking pan, air fry basket (12” x 9.75” x 2”) and two cooking racks.

Control panel

NUWAVE BRAVO XL has easy-to-read blue LED screen, knob for adjustments and 10 buttons (“Menu”, “Preheat”, “Temperature/Time”, “Top/Bottom”, “Toast”, “Sear”, ”Program”, “Stage”, “Probe”, “Light”, “WRM/Fan” and “On/Off”).

Temperature can be adjusted in 5 degree increments which allows you follow recipes precisely (some models adjust temperaturei n 10 degree increments so you can’t select certain temperatures i.e. 365°F).

Each cooking function has it’s own temperature and time settings however you can do adjustments yourself and even save your own presets.

Initially you might find NUWAVE BRAVO XL to be a bit more complicated to use than some of the other models however everything is explained in manual and you get hang of it relatively quickly.

You perhaps should be warned that on many cooking modes it will automatically preheat. Once it has finished preheat it will show “RDY” on display and will wait for you to manually start cooking process. If you don’t do so in 5 minutes after preheating has finished NUWAVE BRAVO XL will automatically turn off.

Other

Oven door is heat resistant and handle is cool-to-touch at all times. NUWAVE BRAVO XL has 3 rack positions and pull-out crumb tray for easy clean up.

Verdict

NUWAVE BRAVO XL offers really good value for money. Is it the best countertop oven in the world? No, but it’s not as expensive as those who are yet it cooks well, has accessories that most other similarly priced countertop ovens don’t and is larger as well. If you are looking for something compact then it will unfortunately be too large for you however is you want something more spacious at at affordable pricing then this is one of the models worth consideration.
