Nutrichef PKAIRFR48.5 Infrared Convection Air Fryer Review

Nutrichef PKAIRFR48.5 infrared air fryer is a little bit different than other air fryers. It’s a halogen convection oven meaning it uses halogen lamp as its heating element making it more energy-efficient and faster cooking, at least in theory. So how well does it fare against other air fryers on market?

Cooking

Nutrichef PKAIRFR48.5 does a really good job of cooking food evenly. It has particularly large cooking bowl (13 quarts) which allows you to cook a whole chicken. The most important thing is that food comes out delicious. It’s crispy on the outside without being greasy and inside is still moist and juicy for foods where you would want it to be i.e. chicken.

The real advantage of air fryers than some overlook is that they don’t require any oil to cook food which makes it more healthy with less calories. Yes, fries cooked in air fryer doesn’t taste quite like ones fried in oil, however they still taste great and are crispy and more healthy too!

Quality

Nutrichef PKAIRFR48.5 is pretty inexpensive air fryer for what it’s and unsurprisingly the build quality isn’t great. It’s not that it’s terrible, but Nutrichef PKAIRFR48.5 doesn’t feel super robust or sturdy. Some parts feel cheap. It probably won’t last 10 years, but who knows, it might. It does cook really good though.

Controls

Nutrichef PKAIRFR48.5 is equipped with two dials – one for temperature (149°F to 482°F) and the other one for cooking time (up to 60 minutes). It also has two indicator lights: “Power” and “Heat”. Controls are basic and intuitive.

Features

Nutrichef PKAIRFR48.5 air fryer comes with mesh cooking tray, oven racks and oven extender ring which also has vents that you can open or close depending on whether you want to let moisture out or keep it inside.

Since heating element is on top and bowl is made of ceramic glass you can see food being cooked from any side. Bowl is removable and easy to clean.

Conclusions

Nutrichef PKAIRFR48.5 cooks well and has pretty large bowl but it’s not perfect. It doesn’t feel very robust and doesn’t have features some of the other air fryers have like presets. Nonetheless for the money it’s a great and unique air fryer.
