Ninja DZ201 Foodi 8 Quart 6-in-1 DualZone Air Fryer

Ninja DZ201 Foodi is a 6-in-1 air fryer with dual cooking zones. What this means is that it has two cooking baskets (4-quarts each) so you can cook different meals simultaneously which is something you can’t do with most air fryers.

Cooking

Ninja DZ201 Foodi can cook in temperatures ranging from 105°F to 450°F (it goes to 450°F only when using broil cooking mode, in other modes it only goes to 400°F).

Ninja DZ201 Foodi cooks really well. The food comes out delicious. It’s flavorful and not greasy, you just have to get the settings right (temperature and time) and the food will be amazing. French fries, onion rings, hamburgers, steaks, chicken wings and many other meals come out tasting great.

With two different cooking baskets you can cook two different meals simultaneously. One particularly cool feature is “Smart finish” which will adjust cooking settings to make both meals finish cooking at the same time.

There’s also “Match zone” feature which will apply same cooking settings to both baskets in case you are cooking same meals in both of them.

If you could complain about something it’s the shape of the baskets. They are 4-quarts mostly because of how tall they are (not very deep or wide) so in most cases you won’t be able to cook as much food in them as in most 4-quart air fryers. Still, since you get two of them you still have enough room to cook for a family of at least 4.

Another issue that few consumers have complained about is horrible metallic smell and taste to the food they cooked. When you first get your air fryer we would recommend to cook sliced pieces of lemon, lemon juice or vinegar for 15-20 minutes. This should be enough to get rid of any smells caused by manufacturing residue of protective substance on heating elements that are there to protect them during shipping.

If after this you still notice some weird taste and/or smell it’s likely you received a defective unit and should try to get replacement. You could also repeat the break-in cooking method one or two times just to make sure that there’s something wrong with the air fryer.

Ninja DZ201 air fryer has 6 cooking modes: air broil, air fry, roast, reheat, dehydrate and bake.

Controls

Ninja DZ201 air fryer is simple to use. Button layout is very intuitive and control panel isn’t overcrowded with them.

Accessories

Ninja DZ201 air fryer comes with two cooking baskets and two non-stick crisper plates. They are dishwasher safe however I will note that washing the baskets by hand might prolong their lifetime.

Conclusions

Ninja DZ201 cooks well and is simple to use. If you will find two basket feature useful then Ninja DZ201 is the air fryer for you, but if you don’t need this feature then it does feel very slightly overpriced. There are other air fryers available with similar and larger cooking capacities with more features at similar pricing but they don’t have two baskets so cooking different meals simultaneously isn’t really possible.
