Ninja DT251 Foodi 10-in-1 Smart XL Air Fry Oven Review

Ninja DT251 Foodi is a 10-in-1 smart XL air fryer oven. It’s large enough to cook two 12-inch pizzas at the same time or 12 pound turkey and has selectable temperature range of 85°F to 450°F (it does vary depending on cooking function you have selected).

Ninja DT251 Foodi works exceptionally well for the most part. It has heating elements on top and bottom as well uses fan as third heating zone making it cook food evenly without any flipping required. Uneven cooking is a very common flaw for air fryers and countertop ovens but this is not something you have to worry about with Ninja DT251.

Preheating is superfast and takes 90 seconds at most which is significantly faster than nearly all of the other countertop ovens you can buy. No more waiting for 5 minutes or more. It will audibly tell you that it has done warming up too.

Ninja DT251 Foodi has 10 cooking functions: whole roast, air roast, air fry, bake, dehydrate, broil, toast, bagel, pizza, reheat. They all work really well.

Ninja DT251 Foodi comes with temperature probe so you can cook meat to your prefered doneness. You can either set the desired meat temperature or let the air fry oven decide in your place – just select what type of meat you are cooking and how well done you want it to be (rare, medium rare, medium, medium well or well done. Some types of meat will have less options). Once you start cooking the display will show current and target temperature. Once target temperature has been achieved it will stop cooking.

Even though Ninja DT251 Foodi is a countertop oven it can crisp food well too – better than many air fryers in fact.

It has 4 rack levels and you can cook on two simultenously. Display will even show you which ones to use for best results.

Overall Ninja DT251 Foodi works great and cooks food to near perfection. When you compare it to less expensive countertop ovens it’s very obvious you don’t just pay for brand name – DT251 actually cooks better.

Clean up

Ninja DT251 Foodi is a bit hard to clean which is probably what you will like about it the least. First of all the interior is quite large. Having more to clean will obviously require more effort but this contributes rather little overall.

The bigger issue is that there’s no nonstick coating on the walls so getting everything off does require more effort. On the upside you don’t have to worry that coating will eventually deteriorate which might be better for longevity.

Oil splatter gets everywhere and if they dry up you will likely have to use some strong cleaners to get rid of them (perhaps this is why in the manual Ninja recommends you clean it after every use). If you clean inside rarely and let everything build up then you definitely won’t be having a good time making it clean as new.

Soem of the splatter gets on heating elements too and those are nearly impossible to actually clean and is not something we would advise to even try.

Ninja DT251 Foodi weighs 33.6 pounds (15.3 kilograms) and measures 17.09 inches long by 20.22 inches wide by 13.34 inches tall. The interior volume is approximately 35.3 quarts and it measures 14.47 inches wide, 12.72 inches deep and 11.08 inches tall.

Ninja DT251 Foodi is equipped with interior light so you can see your food being cooked. It can be turned on or off with a button.

Verdict

Ninja DT251 Foodi is exceptional air fryer oven. It can be a bit hard to clean however it cooks remarkably well and is very versatile making it significantly better than less expensive countertop ovens.
