Ninja AF101 4QT Air Fryer Review

Ninja AF101 is an air fryer with 4 quart cooking basket. It can cook in temperatures ranging from 105°F to 400°F.

Cooking

Ninja AF101 cooks really well. Food comes out delicious with rich flavor. It heats up fast and doesn’t heat up your whole kitchen. It cooks more evenly and food is crispier than with cheaper air fryers. It’s also not as loud as some of the other air fryers.

The 4-quart cooking basket you can cook for 2 persons at a time, maybe 3 at best so for some this model will be too small (Ninja also makes air fryer with 5.5-quart basket).

Tator tots come out crispy and crunchy, so does the French Fries and Chicken wings. Foods like steaks, egg rolls, pizza, onion rings, bacon, roasted vegetables and potatoes,

Leftovers taste a lot better when warmed in Ninja AF101 rather than microwave (but they still don’t taste as great as fresh).

There are 4 different cooking modes: Air fry, roast, reheat and dehydrate.

Some consumers have complained about burnt smell when cooking. This is absolutely normal for a brand new air fryer. The smell is caused by protective substance on heating element (for storage/shipping protection) burning away. For this reason we would recommend you to clean the cooking basket when you first get and then cook slices of lemon for 15-20 minutes. In most cases that’s enough to get rid of the smell.

Controls

Control panel is intuitive. It’s divided in 3 sections: Top section features LCD display and buttons for adjusting time and temperature. Middle section features 4 buttons for each cooking mode. Bottom section has only two buttons: “On/Off” and “Start/Pause”.

As you can see controls are very straight forward making this air fryer easy to use.

Verdict

For the money Ninja AF101 is a great air fryer. It cooks well and is simple to use however it might be too small for some families. With that being said the larger Ninja AF161 Max XL might be a better choice as it’s slightly larger, more functional and not much more expensive.
