MARTIN GR14 Portable Propane BBQ Gas Grill (Review)
MARTIN GR14 is a portable propane gas BBQ grill with 354 square inches of total cooking surface (with 237.25 of them being primary cooking area and the rest being warming rack). It’s equipped with 14,000 BTU/hr U-shape burner and porcelain cooking grid.
MARTIN GR14 Portable Propane BBQ Gas Grill
MARTIN GR14 heats up fast and gets plenty hot. It sears steaks exceptionally well and actually cooks better than many full sized grills which is surprising. There might be some hotspots but overall it seems to cook evenly.
It’s however not quite perfect. This grill runs a bit hot even on “Low” heat setting so it doesn’t really work well with slow cooking. If you think that you will want to cook at lower temperatures then this might not be the grill for you but other than that it cooks surprisingly well for a portable unit.
MARTIN GR14 is equipped with Piezo igniter which as expected works flawlessly. Legs are foldable and they work well too – the grill is stable (sometimes foldable legs are quite finicky on these portable units).
Lid had built-in temperature gauge so you can follow the temperature without having to buy or use any additional accessories.
Grease catcher is a bit small which is understandable since the grill is not that big itself but you will have to empty it quite often.
MARTIN GR14 portable grill is really, really well built. It’s sturdy and made of quality materials. Portable grills aren’t always high quality built but this one is – as it should be at this price point.
MARTIN portable propane gas BBQ grill measures 24 inches in width, 14.5 inches in depth and 12.25 inches in height (16.5 inches with lid open). It also weighs 20.8 pounds.
MARTIN GR14 is not the smallest nor lightest portable grill but it’s also not the largest nor heaviest. It fully qualifies as being a portable grill.
One thing you might dislike is that carrying handles are on the sides and the lid doesn’t have a latch so you do have to use both hands to carry it.
Assembly process is straightforward and simple. Expect for assembly to take 30 to 40 minutes to complete but it can be done faster too.
Overall MARTIN GR14 is a very solid portable gas grill. It’s well made and cooks great. Of course like anything it’s not exactly perfect and there’s room for improvement – for example it shouldn’t run so hot on “Low” heat setting but apart of few shortcomings it’s very capable of delivering delicious results.
