Makita XCU06 (also sold as XCU06Z or XCU06T) is battery powered pruning/climbing chainsaw that’s equipped with 10-inch guide bar and Oregon chain.
Makita XCU06 cuts well for its intended purposes. Top-handle design allows one hand operation at which it excels since it’s lightweight (7.2 lbs including the battery) and very well balanced for it but be warned that one hand operation is dangerous and can result in serious injury or worse.
Don’t expect to take down trees or cut large logs with Makita XCU06 (it can still do it provided guide bar is big enough but it cuts thick wood slow) however for cutting smaller stuff (up to 6-8 inches wide) and pruning it’s great.
Makita XCU06 has soft start feature so it will take a second or two to achieve maximum chain speed which according to manual is 78.7 feet per second (24 meters/s). It also has current limiter so if you force it into wood it might bog down so just let the saw do its job.
Makita XCU06 features brushless motor, adjustable automatic chain lubrication with 140 mL (4.7 fl. oz.) oil tank, electric chain brake and auto power-off function (shuts off saw after 60 seconds of inactivity).
Makita XCU06 comes with 18V LXT® 5.0Ah battery or can be bought as bare tool. Battery life varies. If you cut small stuff its decent but if you cut 6-8 thick wood it will drain fast.
Makita XCU06 is not for everyone, this is not a chainsaw you buy for taking down trees or cutting logs, but for pruning, trimming and limbing this is one of the best.
