LITBOOS ZB-12-C-2 Portable/Countertop Ice Maker Machine Review

LITBOOS ZB-12-C-2 is inexpensive portable/countertop ice maker machine that can produce up to 26 pounds of ice cubes.

Ice production

LITBOOS ZB-12-C-2 makes bullet shaped ice cubes with hollow inside. Because of this shape it has larger contact are than square shaped ice cubes which is an advantage and disadvantage at the same time – The good thing is that ice cubes made with this machine cools drinks better than square shaped ice cubes but one the downside they melt quite fast.

LITBOOS ZB-12-C-2 makes 9 ice cubes per batch with each batch usually taking 7-11 minutes to be made.

LITBOOS ZB-12-C-2 offers 3 different ice cube size settings: small, medium and large. The large setting actually outputs larger ice cubes that most other similarly priced portable/countertop ice maker machines.

Ice basket isn’t refrigerated so made ice cubes will melt – but it seems like ice maker is well insulated as they don’t melt too fast.

Control panel

Control panel features 3 buttons and 5 indicator lights. Two of the buttons are for starting or stopping ice making process and the third is for selecting ice cube size.

Three of the indicator lights are simply for showing which ice cube size setting is selected – each size setting has its own indicator light. The other two indicator lights are for warning you either when water reservoir is too empty or ice basket is full.

Features

LITBOOS ZB-12-C-2 has drain plug at the bottom. It also has sensors to detect when ice basket is full or water reservoir empty – if it detects either it pauses ice production until you take care of it.

Water reservoir capacity is a bit small – only 1.7 liters (~57 oz). On top of that LITBOOS ZB-12-C-2 ice maker detects that water reservoir is empty when there’s still some water in it so you will have to refill it often.

Ice basket is on smaller side too as it only holds up to 1.5 lbs of ice cubes (which is about 80 of them) so you will have to clear it often too.

LITBOOS ZB-12-C-2 is ETL certified and comes with BPA-free ice scoop.

Issues

LITBOOS ZB-12-C-2 isn’t perfect – in fact there are two issues with it.

One of them is that when remove ice basket (which you have to do to refill water reservoir) it spills – water just pours of the bottom of ice basket which is a bit infuriating.

Other issue is a more serious one but not everyone experiences it – reliability. A concerning amount of consumers have complained their unit either wasn’t working out of the box at all or stopped working after some use. This is not that majority experiences but complaints are common enough for this to be concerning.

Conclusions

LITBOOS ZB-12-C-2 ice maker leaves mixed impressions. On one hand it makes nice ice cubes that are larger than most other ice makers make but on the other hand it’s ugly, has some design flaws but most importantly have more reliability complaints than usual.
