Lifetime 60059 80 Gallon Outdoor Storage Deck Box Review

Lifetime 60059 is outdoor deck box with 80 gallon storage capacity. Unlike most it’s made in USA but does that necessarily mean it’s better than the ones that aren’t?

Quality

Lifetime 60059 storage box is made of high density polyethylene plastic. Don’t be fooled though, despite being made of plastic it’s actually very sturdy. Hardware itself is made of rust-resistant stainless steel. It feels sturdy enough to last many, many years to come. For the money it’s very unlikely you will be able to find something else that’s sturdier than Lifetime 60059.

Weatherproofness

Lifetime 60059 seems to be watertight as rain water doesn’t seem to get inside.

Features

Lid is lockable but lid is not included. Spring hinges keep lid open for easy loading/unloading.

Assembly

Assembling is the worst part of this storage box. Depending on how handy you are you will find it to be at best mildly infuriating and at worst so hard it’s agonizing and feels near impossible to do. If you know what you are doing you will put it together in about 30 minutes, if not – it might take hours. Some might even fail to assemble it at all. You have been warned!

Whereas most deck boxes don’t require any tools or at most a screwdriver to assemble Lifetime 60059 requires:

• 7/16″ (11 mm) and 1/2″ (13 mm) wrenches or ratchet wrench with 7/16″ & 1/2″ (10 mm, 11 mm, 13 mm) sockets
• Screwdriver
• Power Drill
• Hammer

Don’t be surprised if at some point you begin to curse at yourself for not buying a deck box that might be less sturdy but can be assembled in minutes by effortlessly snapping pieces together.

Aesthetics

Aesthetics are subjective. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. But with that said Lifetime 60059 deck box seems bland. Even a bit ugly. Some won’t care about that at all as all they need is something that’s sturdy and practical, others will prefer their storage box to also work as a decor.

Dimensions and weight

Lifetime 60059 measures 39 inches wide, 24 inches deep and 26 inches high on the Outside. On inside it measures 36 inches wide, 21.5 inches deep and 23.8 inches high. Box itself weighs 37.2 pounds.

Conclusions

As a storage box Lifetime 60059 is a very good one for the money, however assembly is something most will find insanely difficult – so difficult they might regret the purchase. Take away from that what you will.
