Koolatron KWT10BN 10 Bottle Capacity Wine Cooler Review

Koolatron KWT10BN is a small wine cooler with 10 bottle capacity. Because of its smaller size it uses thermoelectric technology which makes it more energy efficient, quieter, less vibrating and environmentally more friendly than compressor wine coolers.

Operation

You can adjust temperature from 50°F to 66°F (10°C to 18°C) making it perfect for red and full bodied white wines. It’s decent for medium bodied and full bodied dessert wines too. Some wines are best to be served under 50°F like light, dry white and sparkling wines for which this wine cooler won’t be the best.

It seems to work well with temperature being accurate and reasonably constant, albeit few consumers have complained about temperature fluctuations but it’s hard to determine as to why. It’s pretty quiet, almost completely silent. Weirdly enough a couple consumers noted that their units weren’t quiet but once again it’s hard to guess what’s going on there.

Capacity

Unlike so many other wine coolers it stays true to its claimed capacity. Only thing is that larger bottles can be tight fit and particularly long ones might not fit at all.

Controls

Very basic controls. You got 3 buttons. Two of them are for adjusting temperature whereas third one has two functions – switch between Celsius and Fahrenheit temperature scales or turn interior light on/off (press/hold). It also has very basic LCD display that shows temperature setting. It’s not a temperature readout so actual temperature in chamber might be different to that. If you want to keep track of temperature you need a thermometer.

Conclusions

Koolatron KWT10BN is a basic but effective wine cooler for those who don’t own a large collection. It doesn’t cool down under 50°F so it won’t be the best wine cooler for all types of wine but it’s up to you to decide whether that’s an issue or not.
