Performance

When full it takes 8 to 10 minutes to boil the water with KOIOS CX-817. It might sound a lot but that’s because of the extra large capacity – more water takes longer to heat. When you compare how fast it takes to heat up same volume of water between different kettles the outcome of KOIOS CX-817 is pretty average – so it heats up same amount of water just as fast as most other electric kettles.

Before you start using this kettle you need to boil two pots and pour them out to clean the inside.

Quality

Quality is actually quite good for the money. The water container is made of borosilicate glass so the water doesn’t touch any plastic (except the small amount of silicone sealant between the glass and metal) which is rarely the case with most other electric kettles in this price class. The base is made of stainless steel which is nice too.

Does KOIOS CX-817 feel as sturdy and heavy duty as high-end models? No, it certainly doesn’t, but the quality isn’t bad. KOIOS CX-817 is also quite lightweight meaning it’s easy to push around and it doesn’t stay put as well as heavier models.

Design

KOIOS Electric Kettle is quite aesthetically pleasing. Design is sleek and modern looking. Design cues like see-through body and blue led lighting around the bottom of borosilicate glass make it quite attractive.

Possible issues

As with any product there will be some consumers who have had a bad experience due to various reasons like receiving defective unit. In the case of KOIOS CX-817 electric kettle the most common complaints were about the lid breaking, kettle failing after less than year of use or blue light not working properly. It’s hard to estimate how common these issues are but keep in mind that most consumer feedback is positive.

Other

One annoying this about this kettle is that it comes with warning label glued to it. That itself is not a problem as it’s not too hard to peel of but what annoying is that some of the glue remains stuck on the glass and getting it out is a bit tedious (but nothing impossible with a little bit of patience)!

Another thing to mention is that KOIOS CX-817 is quite lightweight meaning it’s easy to push around and it doesn’t stay put as well as heavier models.

Verdict

KOIOS CX-817 is a good affordable electric kettle. Sure, more expensive models are better, but not everyone wants to spend a lot of money on a basic appliance especially if cheaper models do the job just fine.
