KitchenAid KCO124BM has 1800 watt power supply making it more powerful than most convection ovens and selectable temperature range from 80 to 450°F (varies depending on selected cooking function).

Cooking with KitchenAid KCO124BM Digital Countertop Air Fry Oven

KitchenAid KCO124BM heats up fast and cooks evenly. It performs just as you would expect an oven to perform and results are pretty great most of the time however KitchenAid KCO124BM isn’t perfect.

The main selling point of this KitchenAid KCO124BM over KCO211BM is its capability to air fry. Well, air fry mode seems to be just like a convection mode. You could say that the same thing applies to convectional air fryers and you would be mostly right however air fryers also have smaller interior space which allows for a more powerful or effective hot air circulation.

It’s not that air frying doesn’t work on KitchenAid KCO124BM. It does, in fact it works better than on many cheap air fryers however the best air fryers do perform better and make food crispier. If you have used a good air fryer and expect KitchenAid KCO124BM to perform just as well, be warned, it might not.

KitchenAid KCO124BM is also a bit noisy when using air fry or convection mode. It’s not so loud that it would be a problem for most consumers however some might find it annoying.

Another thing to mention is that heating elements are exposed and air fry basket has holes. What this means is that grease can drop into the heating element and cause smoking.

Housing can get very hot during cooking so you might have to be careful not to touch it. Because of this heat there should be at least 4 inches (10 centimeters) of clearance on all sides including top. To be fair these things also apply to nearly all of the other countertop ovens you can buy so this is not really a criticism but instead a reminder of common drawbacks of countertop ovens.

Can KitchenAid KCO124BM fully replace regular oven? It can however it’s not as big as a regular oven so if you have a bigger family you might not be able to cook for everyone in 1 go. Shorter internal height also means you won’t be able to roast a chicken. So in some ways KitchenAid KCO124BM is more versatile than a regular oven, but in other ways it’s not.

Despite some of the drawbacks it’s overall a good countertop oven for the money but it’s not as good as some of the more expensive models.

KitchenAid KCO124BM vs KCO211BM

KitchenAid KCO124BM seems almost identical to KitchenAid KCO211BM however there are some differences. The main difference is that KitchenAid KCO211BM doesn’t have convection option and that each of the countertop ovens have 4 cooking functions that the other one doesn’t.

KitchenAid KCO124BM has ‘’dehydrate‘’, ‘’proof‘’, ‘’air fry‘’ and ‘’convection‘’ modes whereas KitchenAid KCO211BM has none of these. On the other hand KitchenAid KCO211BM has ‘’pizza‘’, ‘’cookies‘’, ‘’roast‘’ and ‘’frozen‘’ cooking functions and KitchenAid KCO124BM has neither of them.

Verdict

KitchenAid KCO124BM is a fairly decent countertop oven for the money even with some of its drawbacks. It’s obviously not the best countertop oven you can buy but you can’t expect it to be at this price. It’s not exactly the cheapest model out there but it’s far from being the most expensive. Countertop ovens like Breville BOV845BSS and Ninja DT251 Foodi are usually sold at a slightly higher price but are also a worthy considerations.
