Kismile Countertop Ice Maker Machine (Review)

Kismile countertop ice maker machine is an inexpensive unit that can produce up to 26.5 pounds of ice cubes in 24 hours. According to manufacturer it makes a batch of 9 ice cubes every 6-8 minutes – and it really does!

Ice cube quality is pretty good – especially if you use bottled or distilled water (which will also likely prolong the lifetime of the machine). You can also make ice cubes in two different sizes: small and large. The difference between sizes isn’t huge but definitely noticeable.

Ice bucket isn’t refrigerated so ice cubes will slowly melt inside it. Melted water goes back into water reservoir to be reused for making new ice cubes.

Features

Water reservoir has a capacity of 1.7 liters or ~57 oz – a bit less than most competitors but it’s not a deal breaker.

Kismile countertop ice maker machine has drain plug so getting water out of it won’t be a problem if you want to take it somewhere with you.

Over time mineral build-up inside the ice maker will happen – minerals are created during the process of producing ice. Minerals inside the machine affects purity of ice cubes so Kismile has built-in self-cleaning mode. To start the self-cleaning mode you just have to hold the power button for 5 seconds. The whole process lasts only 30 minutes and uses just water to clean the machine, no need for vinegar or other substances.

Kismile ice machine uses ventilation fan for cooling itself and is ETL approved. It even comes with an ice scoop (which to be honest isn’t anything special as most ice machines do).

Noise

Kismile ice maker machine isn’t very loud but it does make a bit of noise. Loudness wise it’s kinda in the middle – it’s not the quietest ice maker on the market but neither is it the loudest.

Interface

Interface is very simple like it usually is with such ice makers. There are only two buttons on the machine: “On/Off” button that obviously turns the unit on or off but also starts the self-cleaning process if you hold it for 5 seconds and “select” button that switches between small and large sized ice cubes.

Other than that Kismile ice machine also features 5 indicator lights:

  • “Add water” – when the water reservoir is empty or almost empty it will light up to remind you to fill more water in the reservoir.
  • “Ice full” – lights up when the ice bucket is full of ice cubes.
  • “Power” – indicates that the unit is turned on.
  • “S” – indicates that you have chosen to make small sized ice cubes.
  • “L” – indicates that you have chosen to make large sized ice cubes.

Conclusions

For the price Kismile is a pretty good ice maker! If you are looking for a good ice maker machine you might also want to read our Best Portable/Countertop Ice Makers article.
