Kelvinator Commercial KCCF210WH 21 Cu. Ft. Chest Freezer Review

Kelvinator KCCF210WH is commercial chest freezer with a massive 21 cubic feet (20.9 to be specific) or 594 liter capacity and adjustable temperature from -15°F to 10°F. It uses environmentally friendly (natural, non-toxic and without ozone-depleting properties) R290a hydrocarbon refrigerant which also consumes less electricity than others.

Operation

Kelvinator KCCF210WH works like it’s supposed to. It holds temperature well without fluctuations and doesn’t have issues achieving promised temperatures. Because of its large size you should turn it on and let it cool down for 24 hours before placing any food inside.

For optimal efficiency the air temperature should be below 80°F (27°C) and relative humidity under 65%.

Quality

Quality is outstanding but that’s what you should expect for the money. It’s very solid and well built. Exterior is made of steel (which is painted white).

Controls

Thermostat dial with 8 temperature setting (1 being the warmest and 8 the coldest). Next to it there’s green indicator light that illuminates when wine cooler is running.

Thermostat should be adjusted only once every 8 hours to allow temperature stabilization.

Defrosting

When quarter to half inch of frost has accumulated in the chest freezer it should be defrosted.

Defrosting isn’t complicated. You have to take out all the food and leave lid open with chest freezer turned off. Pull out the drain plug and place pan underneath for all the water to flow into. If frost is soft you can scrape it with plastic scraper. Once you have gotten rid of the frost replace drain plugs.

After defrosting you should clean inside and outside of chest freezer with a solution of two tablespoon of baking soda in 1 quart of warm water. Then rinse and wipe any water/moisture with a cloth. Don’t go over controls or any electrical parts with soaked/wet cloth, only a dry one.

Inside the chest freezer you will find NSF thermometer so you can easily find out what’s the actual temperature inside the chamber at any time.
