Instant Vortex Plus 10 Quart Air Fryer Review

Instant Vortex Plus 10-quart air fryer is one of the best selling air fryers on the market today, but is it really that good to deserve to be one of the most popular models?

Cooking

For the most part Instant Vortex Plus 10-quart air fryer cooks quite well. Food comes out tasting great however there are air fryers that work better with some foods (i.e. cook steaks crispier).

Vortex Plus 10-quart air fryer has 6 different cooking modes (Air Fry, Roast, Broil, Bake, Reheat and Dehydrate). They have default temperature and time settings but you can adjust them yourself too.

Another cool thing about this air fryer is that it has rotating feature and comes with rotisserie basket and rotisserie spit which will come handy when you want to cook French Fries or chicken.

It must be mentioned that there’s a bit of learning curve so don’t expect perfect results on first try (although they still should be pretty good). With all the functions, different tray levels, understanding when to preheat and when not, what temperature to choose etc. it takes some time to learn everything.

Possible issues

Some consumers have had issues with burnt smell (and even taste in some cases) when cooking. It’s hard to say what’s the culprit behind this.

It’s quite normal for burnt smell to be present when you are cooking for the first time due to protective substance on heating element burning away (this is why it’s often recommended to cook sliced pieces of lemon or vinegar with lemon juice for 15-20 minutes the first time you use this air fryer to get rid of this smell).

The issue here is that some consumers still noticed this smell (and in some cases taste in food) even after first, second and third cooking cycles. This is not an issue with most units but there are enough complaints that you can’t say it’s uncommon.

Noise

Instant Vortex Plus 10-quart air fryer is quite loud for an air fryer. This might not matter to you much but will definitely be a deal-breaker for some.

Controls

Control panel is intuitive and overall not hard to use. There are air fryers that are simpler to use but Instant Vortex Plus 10-quart air fryer is simple enough for it not to be a problem.

What is problematic is that touch-screen buttons aren’t always responsive. Sometimes they respond on first press, other times they require multiple presses to register. This is not a huge flaw but it certainly influences user experience negatively to some degree.

Quality

Overall quality isn’t bad but some parts do feel cheap (i.e. door and rotisserie notch).

Other

This air fryer can be hard to clean sometimes.

Verdict

Perhaps we have been too harsh on Instant Vortex Plus 10-quart air fryer. Overall it’s a decent model that cooks well and has a lot of features. With that being said COSORI CS100-AO is a better choice in our opinion. If you are also interested in basket type air fryers then COSORI AF701-CS and Ninja AF161 are worth checking out too!
