Cooking with Instant Pot Duo Plus 80 8-Quart 9-in-1 Pressure Cooker

Instant Pot Duo Plus 80 cooks exceptionally well which is a feat in itself however it’s also very versatile and makes cooking simple and often significatly faster than with conventional cooking techniques.

The food comes out very rich in flavor and tastes great. Meat is very tender and remains juicy on inside. You can often make entire meals by just throwing all the ingredients in and allowing pressure cooker to do the rest which is super convenient.

Instant Pot Duo Plus 80 has 15 customizable Smart programs. 11 of the functions pressure cooking (pressure cook, soup, broth, cake, egg, rice, bean, grain, porridge, oatmeal, sterilize and sous vide) whereas the rest of them are non-pressure cooking (sauté, slow cook and yogurt). It also has keep warm function.

The results can be often described in 1 word – perfect. Even for simple foods the results can be surprising. Rice cooked with Instant Pot Duo Plus 80 will likely be the best you have ever had. Hard boiled eggs are amazing and peel easily every single time.

If you have to complain about something it’s that sealing rings do retain odors of the food you cook and may impact taste if you cook something different next time. For this reason it would be wise to buy some extra ones for different types of food.

Inner cooking pot

Inner cooking pot is made of stainless steel (18/8) with tri-ply bottom. With 8 quart capacity it’s large enough to cook entire meal for whole family in 1 go.

Inner cooking pot doesn’t have any non-stick coating so it might be a bit harder to clean than those who do however on the upside you don’t have to worry about it containing any PFOA/PTFE or the coating peeling off.

Lid and inner pot are dishwasher safe which does make clean up a bit easier.

Pressure release

After you have finished cooking there are 2 ways to release pressure: Natural and Quick release.

Natural pressure release doesn’t require you to do anything but it can take a while. Essentially with natural release you allow the pressure cooker to cool down and release pressure on its own which typically takes 10 to 40 minutes. Once the pressure levels are safe the float valve will drop down.

Quick release releases pressure rapidly. The downside of this is that hot steam shoots out of steam release valve – you have to be careful and avoid having any of your body parts in its way. If the meal you are cooking has large liquid contents then there might be some splattering (in such case you should immediately y turn the steam release handle back to the sealing position).

Other
