IKICH CP217A 26lbs/24h Countertop Ice Maker Machine (Review)
When it comes to IKICH ice makers it can be hard to distinguish them from each other – mainly because IKICH for some reason doesn’t give them model names. We have previously reviewed its more popular brother from IKICH – so how does this unit perform?
Just like the cheaper IKICH model this one also produces up to 26 lbs of ice cubes in a day. It makes 9 bullet shaped ice cubes per batch. Each batch takes 6-9 minutes to make.
Ice cube quality is decent but not perfect. They come out a bit wet and are rather small (about 0.9” x 1.1”). Be warned that the ice maker has to cool down before it can perform at its best so first couple batches might be of lower quality.
Another thing you should be aware of is that the ice basket isn’t refrigerated. What it means is that once ice cubes are made they slowly melt inside the ice maker unless you put them into freezer. Since they come out a bit wet they will freeze together into a clump if left in freezer however they aren’t too hard to break apart.
Control panel
Control panel is very simple and basic. This unit has only one button for turning the unit on or off. All you have to do is plug the unit in, add some water into water reservoir and press the button to turn the unit on – it will automatically start making ice cubes. Just be aware that you have to let the unit stand upright for at least 4 hours (6 is recommended) before using it for the first time.
It also has 3 indicator lights:
- “Ice full” indicator: lights up when is ice basket if full.
- “Add water” indicator: lights up when you need to add water in water reservoir to resume ice cube production.
- “Ice making” indicator: lights up when you turn on the machine and it’s making ice cubes.
Features
This unit is pretty basic and doesn’t have many features. It has transparent lid so you can see how many ice cubes are in the ice basket without opening the lid and letting warm air inside which could impact the ice making process and therefore quality of ice cubes.
Unit is made of ABS (crylonitrile butadiene styrene which is a thermoplastic polymer). According to manufacturer the unit is less than 50dB loud – it’s not too loud but we don’t have any information about actual loudness measurements. This IKICH ice maker is ETL listed meaning it complies with North American safety standards.
It doesn’t have any other features other than the ones previously mentioned.
Conclusions
This IKICH ice maker does make pretty nice ice cubes but it has less features than the other ice machine IKICH. If you are looking for a good ice maker machine you might also want to read our Best Portable/Countertop Ice Makers article.
