Husqvarna 435E II is 16-inch gas chainsaw with 2-cycle 40.9 cc engine. Does it deserve to bear Husqvarna name on it?

Performance

Husqvarna 435E II cuts very well for its size, weight and price. It’s powerful and dependable, cuts 15 inch diameter trees easily. Handles denser woods quite well that other models might struggle with. It usually starts on second or third pull but can run a bit rough for first few minutes.

Husqvarna 435E II uses X-Cut chain which cuts and digs well. X-Cut chain is pre-stretched at the factory, steel is just right amount of hard and so is chrome layer thickness. With optimal heat treatment and cooling durable molecular structure is created. It also features small arrow-shaped channels that provide great lubrication to chain.

Quality

Build quality of Husqvarna 435E II isn’t as great as you might expect. It’s not terrible but some parts do feel cheap or fragile, for example choke/kill switch feels like it can break any time.

Consumer reports also indicate that all sort of issues aren’t uncommon with this unit. Although most feedback is positive there are still relatively many complaints about all kind of issues like safety break seizing, pull cord ripping out of chainsaw, not running properly (in many cases after less than 1 hour of use) and more.

Seems like defective units with this model are more common than with other models. But it’s not a ba if you don’t get unlucky, don’t abuse it

Conclusions

Build quality does lack a bit and defective units are more common than usual but Husqvarna 435E II does cut well for its price, weight and size. Obviously it’s not made for commercial use but in most cases performance will be sufficient for landowners.
