Husqvarna 130 16-Inch Gas Chainsaw Review

Husqvarna 130 is entry level chainsaw equipped with 16-inch bar and chain. It has 38cc X-Torq® engine that outputs 2 horsepower and 1.84 Nm of torque. Chain speed at no load is 55 feet per second (16.8 m/s).

Despite being one of the least expensive chainsaws in Husqvarna lineup it’s a rather recent model meaning technology and design should be modern.

Cutting performance

Husqvarna 130 cuts pretty well but it could benefit of just slightly more torque while using factory bar and chain. It’s equipped with low-kickback chain so it’s not the fastest cutting small chainsaw but as previously said – it does cut quite well.

It’s a great saw for clearing small trees of limbs and for camping. Not something you would use daily or as your main unit for heavier duty jobs but it can handle more serious jobs reasonably well for its price and size.

When cold it can take up to 4 pulls to start it. Once warm it always starts on first.

Husqvarna products often need carb adjustment out of the box. Husqvarna 130 is no exception. If it doesn’t run as desired that is exactly what might be going on. Carb adjustment is not always necessary but a need for it is common enough for you to be prepared for it.

Quality

For most of the part quality is decent but you can see how they saved some money on some parts, this is an entry-level chainsaw after all. For example hand guard and air filter cover feel flimsy.

It doesn’t seem to leak bar/chain oil – which most chainsaws do.

Features

Husqvarna 130 features inertia activated chain brake, LowVib® system that reduces vibration with springs, automatic chain oiler (it’s not adjustable but works great).

Ease of use

Husqvarna 130 is easy to handle. It weighs just 10.36 lbs (excluding cutting equipment). Not the lightest chainsaw in its class but it’s light nonetheless and won’t cause much fatigue.

Conclusions

This is a great chainsaw for occasional use that won’t let you down if you sometimes have to tackle something more serious even though it’s more of a light duty chainsaw. It’s a better chainsaw overall than STIHL MS 180.
