Best Hand Mixers (2023 Review)

Every kitchen needs a hand mixer. Even though they aren’t suited for every situation like a stand mixer would be they are significantly more affordable and usually more convenient to use for smaller jobs. So let’s find out which are the best hand mixers of 2023!

#1 Breville BHM800 Hand Mixer

Breville BHM800 hand mixer is equipped with 150 watt motor and has 9 speed settings.

It feels pretty powerful, more powerful than some of the other hand mixers that claim to have 150 watt motor therefore it also does a great job of mixing and whipping nearly anything. Of course this is not a replacement for a stand mixer for large batches of hard dough but as a hand mixer it works really well.

9 speed settings also is more than you would usually see on a hand mixer. More speeds give you better opportunity to find optimal power for a specific job. Another thing to mention is that slowest speed is indeed slow and fastest is fast which is not always the case with other hand mixers.

Another advantage of Breville BHM800 is that it’s quieter than most hand mixers which certainly shouldn’t be overlooked as loud hand mixers can be irritating.

Controls

Breville BHM800 is equipped with LCD display that not only shows selected speed setting but also how long you have been mixing for. After some experience you will be able to tell when the job is perfectly done by just looking at the timer.

You select speed setting with a scroll wheel. It has 2 buttons: “On/Off” and “Pause” (you can pause the hand mixer and once you unpause it will start mixing with previously selected speed setting).

Attachments

Breville BHM800 hand mixer comes with 2 beaters , 2 dough hooks and 2 baloon whisks. The beaters have rubberized ends which reduces noise and make mixing more efficient however some consumers have had issue with rubber coming off so you might have to eventually find replacements (perhaps one without the rubber to prevent this issue in future if you do experience it first hand).

Features

Breville BHM800 hand mixes features swivel cord and built-in light that illuminates anything you are mixing. Sounds a bit gimmicky but in conditions where lighting isn’t perfect it can prove to be very useful.

Verdict

Overall Breville BHM800 is a really good hand mixer. Only issue is that rubber of the beaters might come off.

#2 KitchenAid KHM7210 Hand Mixer

If you are concerned about rubber on Breville’s beaters coming off then KitchenAid KHM7210 is another great hand mixer to consider.

KitchenAid KHM7210 hand mixer is equipped with 150 watt motor and has 7 speed settings. The power is decent but might not be sufficient for tougher duty jobs. In most cases it will do just fine.

Quality

This is where KitchenAid KHM7210 hand mixer shines the most. It feels really well made and sturdy, leaves an impression that it should last for many years to come.

Verdict

KitchenAid KHM7210 is not the most powerful hand mixer out there but it does the job just fine most of the time and the build-quality is really good for the price.

#3 Cuisinart HM-90BCS Hand Mixer

Cuisinart HM-90BCS has 220 watt motor and 9 speed settings.

With 9 speed settings you have a nice, wide range of power options. The first 3 speeds are quite slow which is really great for situations when you don’t want a lot of power. It’s powerful enough to complete most jobs without any issues. This is obviously not a stand mixer so don’t expect to knead large amounts of tough dough.

Attachments/Accessories

Cuisinart HM-90BCS comes with beaters, chef’s whisk, dough hooks, and spatula. They are dishwasher safe.

Other

Some consumers reported that their Cuisinart HM-90BCS hand mixer lasted for about a year before breaking. This might indicate that long-term reliability might be an issue however since majority of consumer feedback is positive it likely isn’t.

Verdict

If for some reason you don’t fancy the two hand mixers rated above Cuisinart HM-90BCS then it’s a decent choice too!

#4 Cuisinart HM-70BCFR Hand Mixer

Cuisinart HM-70BCFR is equipped with 220 watt motor and has 7 speed settings. Just like all of the hand mixers in this list Cuisinart is powerful enough for light-to-medium duty jobs.

Just like many other hand mixers in this price class Cuisinart HM-70BCFR has SoftStart feature that makes attachments speed up gradually to reduce/prevent splattering.

Quality

Overall quality is decent but not great. Cuisinart HM-70 hand mixer is made of plastic that doesn’t feel heavy duty but is sturdy enough. Some consumers have reported that plastic clips (the ones that hold attachments) eventually wore out causing attachments to fall out.

Features

Cuisinart HM-70 features swivel cord and ability to sit upright (on flat surface).

Verdict

Cuisinart HM-70 is among best selling hand mixers in North America and no wonder. Even though it’s not quite the best it’s still a really good hand mixer. Only concerning thing is that some consumers have had issues with plastic clips wearing out.
