Hamilton Beach 63390 4-Quarts Electric Stand Mixer Review
Hamilton Beach 63390 is a stand mixer with 4-quart mixing bowl and 300 watt motor. Being more affordable than KitchenAid models can it be a good alternative?
Performance
Hamilton Beach 63390 works reasonably well most of the time. With planetery mixing action (while attachments spin they also rotate around the bowl) ingredients are mixed rather well most of the time however some might remain unmixed at the bottom or the sides requiring you to scrape.
So what about the motor, is it powerful enough? In most cases, yes, however it can struggle a bit with thicker doughs. Another thing to note is that sometimes Hamilton Beach 63390 can shake rather violently on higher speeds.
To be fair those drawbacks are to be expected from a budget priced stand mixer. It gets the job done but it’s not a KitchenAid.
Attachments
Hamilton Beach 4-quart stand mixer comes with dough hook, whisk and flat beater attachments.
Noise
Most of the cheap stand mixers are rather loud when operating but that’s not the case with Hamilton Beach 63390. Even though it’s certainly not the quietest stand mixer you can buy (some of the quietest ones are KitchenAid Artisan Mini, KitchenAid K45SS Classic Series and KitchenAid KSM7581) it’s not too loud either.
Bowl
The size of the bowl is 4 quarts which means it’s not that large. It’s large enough for what most consumers need but if you want to do large batches then it will be too small for you.
Bowl is made of stainless steel and has handles on both sides. It also comes with removable splatter shield that has feeding port.
Quality
Hamilton Beach 63390 stand mixer is mostly made of plastic. It does feel cheap and fragile compared to KitchenAid models that are made of metal.
Other
Hamilton Beach 4-quart stand mixer has tilt-head design that makes removing and insterting attachments easy. It also has suction cups on the bottom that keeps it stay put even when it shakes on higher speeds.
Verdict
Is Hamilton Beach 63390 perfect? No, not even close. Is it as good as KitchenAid stand mixers? Also no. Is it adequate stand mixer for the money? Yes. If you can accept its shortcomings it just might be good enough for your needs however if you need something better then you should buy KitchenAid KITCH or KitchenAid Artisan if you are looking for a stand mixer with similar bowl size.
