Hamilton Beach 25331 cooks well and results are very comparable to a real grill. One of the most common concerns with these portable units is whether they get hot enough and this one certainly does.

Hamilton Beach 25331 sears meat well and it remains juicy on the inside. It specifically has sear function that will heat up the grill to 500°F and keep it at that temperature for 90 seconds. The cooking surface is nonstick and it works well so the food doesn’t get burnt.

Hamilton Beach Steak Lover’s electric indoor grill has top and bottom cooking plates so it cooks on both sides simultenously which decreases overall cooking time. Since it has a floating hinge you can easily fit thicker steaks or sandwiches.

One thing you might dislike about this portable grill is that it’s not smokeless. To be fair most of the time there’s very little smoke but occasionally it can smoke quite a lot depending on what you cook.

It’s also important to keep in mind that this model has 100 square inches of cooking area which is not a lot. It’s adequate to cook for 1 or 2 people at a time but certainly no more than that.

Grease tray

Grease tray works as intended however it’s placement is a bit akward. It kind of sticks out but it doesn’t cause too much inconvenience.

Clean up

This model doesn’t have removable plates so you can’t throw them in dishwasher for effortless clean up. With that being said the clean up doesn’t take too much effort. Most of the time you just need to wipe the surface with damp cloth and it does the trick. You can also slightly warm up the cooking surface beforehand as that often helps too.

Control Panel

Control panel of Hamilton Beach Steak Lover’s electric indoor grill is fairly basic which also makes it simple to use. It’s equipped with LCD display that shows temperature as well 4 buttons: “Power”, “↓”, “↑” and “Sear”.

To turn it on all you have to do is to plug in the unit and press “Power” button while lid is closed. It will turn on and use 425°F as default temperature which you can then just adjust with arrow buttons. It will beep once it has warmed up to selected temperature.

Hamilton Beach 25331 doesn’t have timer function which is desired by some consumers.

Cord is short so you are forced to use this unit very close to plug/outlet. You can fix this issue with extension cord but that’s an additional unnecessary inconvenience.

Hamilton Beach 25331 may lack some minor features that competitors have but it makes up for them by how well it cooks.
