Greenworks 2600402 Pro 80V 20-Inch Snow Thrower (Review)
Greenworks 2600402 Pro 80V is a cordless snow thrower with brushless motor. It has clearing width of 20 inches and clearing depth of 10 inches. So is it any good?
Performance
Greenworks 2600402 Pro 80V handles up to 6-8 inches of light snow effortlessly. 8-10 inches and it starts to struggle but still does the job – you just have to push it slower. It might handle over 10 inches of snow but you will have to take multiple passes. It throws light snow 10-20 inches away.
When it comes to wet snow it performs less well. Chute is very prone to clogging – it’s easy and quick to clean but it’s still an inconvenience.
When it comes to heavy, icy snow it can handle few inches of that. Since the unit is lightweight it’s a bit harder to push it through hard snow.
Overall performance is mediocre. If the snow is too deep or dense the motor will turn off itself.
Reliability
Reliability seems to be a major issue with Greenworks 2600402 Pro 80V snow blower. According to consumer reports it’s very common for the unit to break. Even worse – warranty reports often take months to complete, some consumers have reported waiting to receive their unit back for longer than 6 months.
We haven’t come across a snow blower that has so many complaints about reliability as this one which is very concerning.
Quality
Other than the motor pretty much the whole unit is made from plastic so it doesn’t feel particularly sturdy. The housing or blades doesn’t feel fragile, but they are certainly nowhere near as sturdy as in units where they are made of metal.
Battery
Greenworks 2600402 Pro 80V snow blower comes with 2.0Ah battery. It typically lasts 25-30 minutes – maybe a bit longer in light conditions. It charges very fast – from 0 to 100 percent in only 30 minutes or less.
Features
Greenworks 2600402 Two led lights – one for each side. They are pretty bright and does a great job of illuminating everything in front of you. Chute rotates in 180 degrees. Greenworks 2600402 has 7-inch wheels.
Maneuverability
It’s not self propelled but since it weighs only 33.5 pounds (without battery) it’s not hard at all to push in light snow, however if the snow is dense it will require some effort. Overall because of its lightweight it’s easy to maneuver.
Conclusions
Considering the price, performance and common reliability issues there are far better alternatives available. To find out which are the best electric snow blowers read our Best Electric Snow Blowers article.
