Greenworks 21302 13-Inch 40V Cordless String Trimmer/Edger Review

Greenworks 21302 13-Inch 40V is a medium priced battery powered string trimmer. It has cutting path of 13 inches and uses 0.065” single line. It does 9,000 RPM at no load – which is significantly more than most other string trimmers at this pricing.

Despite that trimming performance isn’t that great. It does the job when it comes to light duty jobs, but won’t be cutting thick stuff with it. Line is thin and flimsy and prone to snapping if you cut anything thick’ish – perhaps you can buy a better line which might improve the situation a bit but it still doesn’t have enough power for medium to high duty jobs.

Greenworks 21302 13-Inch 40V string trimmer also converts into edger but edging function is almost useless. The plastic wheel is flimsy and bends under the weight of Greenworks 21302 making it hard and awkward to edge.

Features

It has auto-feed feature but it doesn’t work quite as you would expect as it doesn’t automatically advance. To feed line you have to stop trimming and let the trimmer slow down until you hear a click sound which means it has advanced line – however it only advances 1/4 inch at a time so if you need to feed more than that it’s quite annoying process.

Build quality

Despite the many flaws of Greenworks 21302 13-Inch 40V cordless string trimmer it feels pretty well made for the most part with some exceptions (like the edger wheel).

However “it feels like” doesn’t always translate to reality. There is still some complaints about reliability from consumers – they are a small minority but there is more of such reports than desired.

Battery

Greenworks 21302 40V 13-Inch string trimmer comes with 2Ah battery. It lasts about 25-30 minutes on full charge and takes a bit less than 2 hours to charge. The most annoying thing about it is that it’s quite difficult to get out.

Conclusions

So is Greenworks 21302 40V 13-Inch string trimmer worth the money? No, at least in my opinion. Most of the consumers still seem to like it, but 1 in 3-4 people who have bought it seem to be disappointed. Whether this appliance is the one you need ultimately is you decision!
