Greenworks 20312 G-MAX 40V 16-Inch Chainsaw Review

Greenworks 20312 is 16-Inch 40V battery powered chainsaw. You might be sceptical of the idea of electric chainsaw but should you?

Performance

Surprisingly Greenworks 20312 has plenty of power. It’s does cut slower that some gas chainsaws of similar size but nonetheless it does cut quite well and works fine with woods of diameter of 20 inches but it can struggle with some denser ones. It’s is seriously good medium duty chainsaw.

On top of that it’s so much quieter compared to gas saw. It also vibrates a lot less and you don’t have to inhale fumes or deal with maintenance of gas chainsaw. It’s also light which makes it easy to handle.

Greenworks 20312 cordless chainsaw has bar length of 16 inches and chain pitch is 3/8″ (or 0.375”).

Features

Greenworks 20312 G-MAX 40V 16-Inch chainsaw features heavy duty Oregon bar and chain, .0375 chain pitch, chain brake (which works well), metal bucking spikes and an automatic oiler.

You can adjust chain tension without any tools (loosen the chain cover lock knob, adjust the chain tension knob to get the right tension, then tighten the cover lock knob) and it holds tension well.

Battery

Greenworks 20312 comes with 4.0Ah battery that does last pretty long on full charge. Still getting a second battery would be advised just in case.

Batteries have charge indicators that shows how much charge is left in 4 increments. They take about 2 hours to fully recharge.

Conclusions

Despite being electric unit Greenworks 20312 is a great medium duty chainsaw. It cuts better than expected, is ease to use and offers multiple advantages over gas powered units.
