George Foreman GR2080B 5-Serving Classic Plate Grill Review

George Foreman GR2080B is indoor grill with 80 square inch cooking area. It comes with classic grill plate with George Tough™ nonstick coating.

Grilling with George Foreman GR2080B 5-Serving Classic Plate Grill

George Foreman GR2080B heats up fast and cooks evenly. Despite having only 1 temperature settings the food turns out quite good! It’s neither undercooked not overcooked. All-in-all it performs quite well. It’s obviously not up to par to higher end models but for something simple and affordable the results are decent.

There’s one issue though – this grill is not that big. Despite being advertised as “5-serving’’ unit with 80 square inch cooking area it’s more like 1-2 serving unit. You might fit 2 burger patties but with most foods you will be able to only cook 1 serving at a time.

Features

George Foreman GR2080B 5-serving classic plate grill features dual cooking positions and adjustable cooking height. It’s also equipped with drip tray.

Control panel

George Foreman GR2080B controls are very basic and simple. You might even argue there are none. There isn’t even ‘’On/Off’’ button. You plug it in to turn on and unplug to turn off. It’s a little bit less convenient that having a button but many won’t mind.

There’s however indicator lights (red and green) that will let you know whether the grill is still warming up or has achieved the default temperature setting (as well whether the unit is ‘’on’’ as either one illuminating means that grill has been plugged in).

Quality

Overall build quality isn’t terrible but George Foreman GR2080B classic plate grill isn’t as robust as higher-end models. It holds together fine but some parts (like lid) can feel a bit wobbly.

Clean up

Grill plate is not removable so you cannot wash it in dishwasher. Instead you have to wash it under the sink which can require some scrubbing and effort so clean up can be a bit difficult at times.

Verdict

George Foreman GR2080B classic plate grill is very bare bones unit. It’s affordable and cooks just fine however it’s lacking features that more expensive models have-  it’s less versatile and less convenient to use. If you consider to buy this grill the two main questions you should ask yourself are ‘’will 80 sq. in. of cooking area be enough for me?’’ and “do I need a unit with adjustable temperature or is a single temperature setting enough for me?”.
