George Foreman GR0040B 2-Serving Classic Plate Grill Review

George Foreman GR0040B is a 2-serving indoor grill with classic type grill grate. It’s one of the more affordable George Foreman indoor grills but is it as good as more expensive models?

George Foreman GR0040B 2-Serving Classic Plate Grill

George Foreman GR0040B works well for burgers and leaves nice char marks. They come out rich in flabor and juicy. Works well for toppings like onions too. Heat is fairly evenly distributed across the surface however in some situations you can notice one side being hotter than the other.

George Foreman GR0040B is a fairly small unit. It doesn’t take up much space however you also can’t cook much in a single go. It’s designed to fit two burger patties but depending on their size only one might fit.

George Foreman GR0040B heats up fast and cook fast. Burgers patties take about 4-7 minutes to cook. This is a very basic model without temperature control. The default temperature is quite hot so that’s something you have to keep in mind. It can burn food fast if you don’t pay attention.

Quality

Overall quality isn’t terrible but you definitely feels this is a less expensive George Foreman indoor grill. The biggest issue will likely be nonstick coating with long-term use – the coating seems to be fairly thin so it likely won’t last long.

Controls

There’s no on/off button – you have to plug it in to turn on and unplug to turn off. It also doesn’t have temperature control as previously mentioned – you only get a single preset temperature. The only thing you get is temprerature indicator light which will indicate whether the unit is heating up or has achieved maximum temperature.

Grill plate clean up

You cannot take out the grill plate for cleaning which is definitely a downside. On the upside it’s usually not too hard to clean because of the non-stick coating.

Other

Cord is quite short which can be an issue for some. Some people have had issues with nonstick coating peeling off too.

Verdict

GR0040B just isn’t as good as more expensive George Foreman models. It can work fairly well but it’s a bare bones unit with mediocre quality. For those who want a fairly inexpensive unit and don’t really need additional features this might do but don’t expect it to be as good as more expensive models.
